Turf Maintenance Tips

Give Your Turf the Care It Deserves

Turf Now!® is proud to provide and install some of the most high-quality, low-maintenance artificial grass products on the market. We save homeowners dozens of hours and hundreds of dollars each year each month by eliminating the tedious yard maintenance associated with natural grass.

Like any investment, however, synthetic grass requires occasional care to keep it in its best condition. Luckily, there’s no specialized knowledge or industry-specific tools required. In just a few minutes each week — and with supplies you already have at home — you can rejuvenate your turf grass landscape and spend the rest of your weekend enjoying all it has to offer.

Rinse As Needed

Synthetic grass remains the perfect evergreen hue year-round and never needs to be watered to maintain this. However, it is recommended that you rinse down your artificial turf every so often to clean it of dust, debris, and pet waste.

Rainfall is typically sufficient to clean synthetic grass, but in Southern California and other desert climates, a quick rinse with the garden hose will work just as well. This should be done about once a week or so, but make sure not to overdo it. You only need to hose down your synthetic grass for a couple of minutes, and your lawn will be sufficiently clear of dust and other particles.

Clear Away Debris

The easiest way to take care of your artificial grass is to occasionally pick up large pieces of debris that end up in your yard. Throughout the year, leaves, branches, and other debris may land on your artificial turf lawn, especially if you have a lot of trees or plants in the area.

Although you may be tempted to use a leaf blower to clear away the area, we don’t recommend using these as they can disturb the infill. If you must use a shop vac or leaf blower, be sure to use the lowest setting.

To clear the debris away, it’s recommended that you use a rake to collect them together and remove them from your artificial grass. A plastic or bamboo leaf rake works well, but you can also buy rakes specifically created for use on synthetic turf. Avoid rakes with metal bristles, as these can damage the turf’s blades.

Promptly Clean Pet Messes

Accidents happen, but the important thing is that pet messes are cleaned up as soon as possible. Quick cleanup will help prevent odors and discoloration, which can reduce the lifespan of your artificial grass as well as the value of your investment.

As soon as you notice your pet go to the bathroom, pick up solid waste with a doggy bag as you would on any other landscaping material. Rinse the area down as soon as you dispose of the solid waste, and maintain your regular cleaning schedule to prevent and eliminate odors.

“I got artificial turf installed in my backyard, and it looks absolutely beautiful! I’m so pleased with this company from A to Z! Denning came out to give me an estimate and he was so friendly, knowledgeable and patient. He showed me several different turf options and helped me find just the right turf to meet my needs. And the pricing was so reasonable for such high quality turf! He and Jose went above and beyond to get me on the schedule in time for an event I had planned. I received a courtesy call the day before from Jose, and the crew arrived at the exact scheduled time the next morning. The install crew are the BEST! They are extremely professional, very very skilled at what they do, very friendly, and they do not cut corners at all. The turf came out beautiful and VERY professionally done!! If you are looking for an honest company that truly cares about the customer, LOOK NO FURTHER than Turf Now!! I would definitely use them again if I decide to get turf in my front yard, and I’m definitely recommending them to all my friends. Thanks Denning, Jose, and crew!”.
