Behind the Scenes: What’s in Turf Now!® L.A.’s Grass?

A lot has changed with synthetic grass over the years, including Turf Now!®’s creation process and our quality standards for finished products. The difference is that our grass is actually more earth-friendly than ever before while maintaining rigid safety standards and the highest quality. So, what goes into Turf Now!®’s grass? How is it made? Which grass is best for me? These are the questions we aim to answer in our three-part blog series over the next month and a half. There is a lot that goes into our synthetic grass products and we are excited to promote transparency and awareness of our socially-conscious business practices.

Turf Now!® artificial grass is dedicated to a few things: the environment, your safety and the American economy. Our business reflects our values and we feel that is visible in our finished products. Your artificial grass from Turf Now!® L.A. includes:

Biobased Backing
Turf Now!® utilizes a soy-based backing for all our artificial grass. We work with a company called Universal Textile Technologies (UTT), who manufactures a very special backing called BioCel™. This backing improves the environmental impact and durability of our artificial grass products. It is estimated that soybean oil actually replaces 60 percent of petroleum-based polyurethane in BioCel™, making this some of the most advanced grass on the market today.

Los Angeles residents are some of the most well-informed consumers when it comes to making earth-friendly purchases. They know what we use today stays on the planet indefinitely, which is why it is so important to make informed decisions when it comes to making purchases for your home or business.

Recycled Plastics
UTT recently announced a partnership with The Grand Teton National Park that utilizes the park’s recycled bottles to manufacture their signature BioCel™ and EnviroCel™ products, both of which are utilized in Turf Now!® synthetic grass. This initiative decreases our company’s carbon footprint and supports the U.S. economy by creating American jobs.

Safe Infill
While rubber infill used to be the go-to for athletic turf, there is really no place for it in our customer’s homes or businesses. Turf Now!® has evolved to include several infill alternatives that will still provide ballast and UV protection for your artificial grass. Options include:

  • Silica-coated sand
  • Acrylic-coated sand
